The IIDA Texas chapter was started in 1994 to support the growing Interior Design Community in the state of Texas. Since that inception, the interior design community of Oklahoma has joined our chapter in 2001 and the size of all our Texas city centers has increased substantially. As an organization, we have remained committed to the advocacy of Interior Design in the community. We have accomplished this through community support programs, support of state and local legislation, remaining actively involved with the Interior Design programs on the University level and the certification of designers to increase the number of professional designers in our region.

Today the Texas/Oklahoma chapter has nearly 1,000 members and 48 sponsor organizations that span 2 states. We have active volunteers in six cities and look to the future of adding additional city centers in east and west Texas. Keeping to our strategic goal adopted in 2003 "to enhance the quality of life through excellence in interior design and advance interior design through knowledge, value and community", we have made a permanent impact on how both the design community and the community at large view the practice interior design and interior designers.

The current chapter board is excited about the future and we see many new and unique opportunities for our members and chapter sponsors.
