Lake Travis Retreat

Project Description

This Lake Travis retreat was designed for a family to come together for vacations and weekend getaways.  The U-shape design is oriented toward spectacular lake views and makes use of natural light and lake breezes. Sliding door systems join the interior and exterior spaces virtually eliminating the line between inside and outside. Interior spaces segue into a large courtyard of existing oak trees, a pool, fire pit, outdoor kitchen, and dining area.

Interior materials including sandstone, onyx, glass tiles, and ipe wood provide warm tones and texture that is repeated from room to room.  The manipulation of a neutral color palette throughout the house integrates the interiors with the outdoors and provides a perfect backdrop for the owners’ art collection.

Judges Comments

• the use of materials blurs the edge between exterior and interior
• the neutral palatte and use of natural material is a good backdrop for the artwork
