A CEU is a measurement of contact hours and credit assigned to an approved course. Example: One contact hour = 0.1 CEU.

IIDA Professional and Associate Members are required to take 1.0 CEU equal to 10 hours of continuing education in a two year time period.

The current compliance period is January 1, 2006 - December 31, 2007. It applies to only those who became either a Professional or Associate Member prior to January 1, 2006. If a person became a Professional or Associate Member after January 1, 2006, their first compliance period will begin January 1, 2008.

Additional requirements in Texas:

The Texas Board of Architectural Examiners (TBAE) requires all registered Interior Designers to complete 8 Continuing Education Program Hours (CEPH's) per year to maintain certification and registration in the state of Texas. CEU credits earned to meet IIDA requirements may be used to fulfill these CEPH requirements. The compliance period is from the expiration date of your license from one year to the next.

Some CEU opportunities available:All CEU credits are registered through the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) the official clearinghouse for all professional interior design organizations that offer CEU courses.
